In the new composition of the Board of Cooperatives Europe
European recognition: Ukrainian consumer cooperation represented in the new composition of the Board of Cooperatives Europe.
On June 3, 2025, during the General Assembly of Cooperatives Europe, held in Antalya, the cooperative community of Europe re-elected the governing bodies of the sectoral organization ICA – Cooperatives Europe.
A representative of Ukraine’s consumer cooperation, Illia Gorokhovskyi, Chairman of the Council of Ukrkoopspilka, was elected to the new Board.
This election is an important step in ensuring the representation of Ukrainian consumer cooperation at the international level and demonstrates the high appreciation of the contribution of COOP Ukraine to the development of the European cooperative movement. COOP Ukraine will be directly involved in shaping strategic decisions on sustainable development, the social economy, and the cooperative model of the future in Europe.
Along with Illia Gorokhovskyi, representatives from Spain, Belgium, Armenia, Great Britain, Poland, Germany, Bulgaria, Italy, France, Turkey, Finland, and Ireland were also elected to the Board.
The renewed Board will continue to work to protect and promote cooperative values and principles in the political, economic, and social contexts of Europe.
On the same day, Giuseppe Guerini was elected President of Cooperatives Europe, a candidate nominated by cooperative associations from Germany (DGRV), France (Coop FR), and Belgium (Febecoop), succeeding Petar Stefanov (Bulgaria).
In his speech, the newly elected President of Cooperatives Europe emphasized the role of cooperatives in social transformation processes, which are key to achieving the 2030 sustainable development goals.
